Help Us Raise Our Puppies

We all have a starting point in life and our service dogs are no different. Our trainees start their journey with us at 8 weeks of age and as the most adorable little fluff balls. At this young age they live with one of our trainers until they are 12 to 14 weeks old, where they are then sent off to live with volunteer foster parents.

Each of our foster parents signs up to care for their puppy until they are about 9 to 10 months of age, during this duration they attend weekly puppy classes and one to one sessions with our trainers. Throughout this period of time they learn a variety of tasks and jobs while also progressing through basic and advanced obedience courses.

Those dogs who do make it to graduation day are placed with pre-qualifed individuals who have been vetted and make the commitment to go through handler training with their soon to be service dog. These pre-qualified individuals have been identified by a licensed behavioral health professional to have a demonstrated need for a psychiatric service dog.

Your contribution enables us to cover the cost of basic care, veterinary services and training for these wonderfully talented dogs, as well as helping to mitigate the cost passed on to their permanent handler. We strive to make sure that cost is not a limiting factor when placing one of our dogs with someone who truly needs them, but these dogs are a hefty investment. On average, from start to finish we invest about $15,000 to $25,000 in our dogs, where the retail cost is often in excess of $40,000. In short, without the generosity of donors, corporate sponsors and community partners, we would not be able to do this kind of work.

We are working to send a special kind of compassionate care home for people living with mental health related challenges. This is an effort to make their days a little brighter, their lives a little easier and theirs hearts smile, courtesy of a canine who's first and only priority is to love them unconditionally.
